Ford has opened a one-stop 3D digital store which it has named as the Ford 3D Store. What does this mean for fans? Well, if you are a Ford fan, you can now create your own models of Ford vehicles, thanks to 3D printing that is available in the store. If you want, you can also purchase a 3D digital file from a library of over 1000 images of Ford vehicles. This step by Ford will appeal to the car enthusiasts and collectors as well as to the fans of the company.

Available Models to 3D Print
The models which are available to 3D print, include the new Ford GT, Shelby GT350R, F-150 Raptor, Fiesta ST and Focus ST. More models will be available in the forthcoming days. 3D printing is done on a 1:32 scale in plastic and the models will cost $39. However, if you have your own 3D printer or can access one, you just have to pay $4.99 to get the 3D design files. You will be able to scale the car to your desired size and print it out yourself with the files. The F-150 Raptor is available at the Turbosquid site where you can print it for $149.
The prediction by Juniper Research suggests that sales of desktop 3D printers will get past the 1 million mark within the next 3 years, which is more than twenty times the number that was sold last year. This prompted Ford to start their 3D printing store for the consumers.
The Ford 3D Store
The Ford 3D Store has been built by Turbosquid, which is a company that focuses on selling digital images and 3D printable files. The all new Ford GT will be available in color sandstone and will be a limited edition one. You can get it from 15th June from the Ford 3D Store. Other models are now available for printing.
Mark Bentley, licensing manager, Ford Global Brand Licensing said “3D printing at home is a growing trend, and it makes sense for us to offer our customers a chance to make their own 3D Ford models. At Ford, we’re using 3D printing every day to rapidly prototype parts, and now we want to share that fun with our fans.”
To purchase a Ford model, you have to register with the site and agree that there will be no commercial use of the item you 3D print.
