Amazon plans to unveil its new phone on 18th June, 2014 at an event in Seattle. The phone is supposed to use different advanced mobile technologies which will fuse real-world shopping with the online marketplace of Amazon. This phone will be the perfect choice for shopping for consumers with its large screen, built-in sensors and multiple 3D cameras.
Several cameras which will be on the front of the phone will help in creating a dynamic 3D shopping surrounding. There will be cameras in the back as well which will probably be used to frame the products in the physical world in such a way so that it seems that they are featured in the online marketplace of Amazon.
This phone will be a step ahead than Amazon’s free shopping Dash device, which has a voice recorder and a bar code reader that lets consumers create Amazon shopping lists as they see things they require, throughout the day.
3D experience with Head Movement Sensors
It seems that Amazon phone will be using sensors to track the users’ head movements, thereby delivering 3D experience. Omron’s Okao Vision face sensing technology will be used by the phone to track the head movements.
The head tracking cameras will possibly provide a 3D presentation of the online shopping surroundings of Amazon. The presentation will show the product on the screen surrounded with graphics, navigation buttons and other information in a 3D format. All these things will also move as the users move their head or change the position of their phones. Hidden panels of information can even be opened up with their head movements.
Augmented Reality & 3D
The ‘flow’ feature that exists in Amazon’s iPhone app will also help in providing a 3D experience for the users in the augmented reality shopping environment. In case of ‘flow’, the back camera of the phone recognizes a product in the real world and triggers a graphic with links and information for purchasing it in the marketplace of Amazon.
The new phone might show the product with its relevant 3D product information and graphics on the product screen. These graphics might change with the head movement of the users.
Impulsive buying is what Amazon focuses on. It provides users with an option to buy the items as soon as they have found it in the stores.
The new phone will use advanced indoor GPS to find out exactly what store the users are in or when they are nearby to any store while they decide to purchase any product. Amazon might provide a special “Amazon” price for that product if the users are in or near any of their retail partner’s stores. This will in turn lead to instant gratification. Users will be prompted to buy the item instantly providing a boost in sales.
It is still unclear about the final features that this new Amazon phone will have. As soon as it is released, we will be able to get a clear idea. However, as of now one thing is obvious- the new phone will definitely have the latest technologies to provide a wonderful shopping experience to the users.
