Nokia has been laying low for quite some time now with no release of any new smartphones. Whereas, its competitor Samsung, has been launching amazing phones like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Now, rumors are high that Nokia is making a comeback in the consumer market and that too with a boom. It will be taking advantage of the recent popularity of virtual reality technology. After its acquisition by Microsoft in 2014, Nokia lost its manufacturing power and till 2016, it won’t be able to launch any unique product. So, we can expect to get new smartphones from this Finnish company in 2016.
Working on Virtual Reality Headset
According to past company executive Richard Kerris who spoke to Re/Code, Nokia has big plans for next year. A foray into virtual reality is one of them. It can’t be said for sure whether the statement by the former executive is in line with the current plans of the company, but still we can expect new developments next year.
Nokia is supposedly working on a virtual reality headset. Not much is known about it. But if rumors are to be believed, this news is an exciting one. By taking advantage of virtual reality technology, one of the best companies in the mobile industry could revive its lost name.
However, if Nokia really wants to get into the virtual reality bandwagon, it should come up with something which is innovative and at the same time relates to the consumers’ demands. Till now, majority of the virtual reality gadgets that have been developed or are up for release, are quite expensive. So, if Nokia truly wants to get the attention of the customers, the company has to create something affordable and which is easy for the consumers’ pockets, but at the same time have exclusive features.
New Smartphones to be Launched
The Nokia N1 tablet had become really popular and it is one of the best tablets in the market currently, as is clear from the feedback and reviews. Nokia is now likely planning a range of smartphones and possibly another tablet that would help the company to get back in the game.
However, the smartphone business is one of the most competitive businesses and Nokia has to make extra effort to make some advancement over its competitors that are already in the market. We have to wait till next year to find out if Nokia can actually get back in the smartphone business and provide its customers with a useful virtual reality headset.
