Husband / wife team, The Clever Co., are launching a collection of 3D Augmented Reality invitations and stationery.
Tim, a husband to be last year, suggested a ‘hologram invitation’ for his upcoming nuptials when asked what he would choose if he could choose any kind of invitation. Unfortunately for him, this kind of invitation didn’t exist at the time. Together with his programming wife the Clever Look app and a collection of 3D invitations were created. These over the top stationeries are pushing the boundaries of the stationery world.
Lately people have been pushing the boundaries of the wedding, not only with growing budgets but with careful design. The Clever Co. is careful to concentrate on the design of the invitations and not only the 3D models so that the design suites are beautiful and not gimmicky. Another trend that these invitations capitalize on is the augmented reality (AR) trend. Analytics firm ABI Research says that developer investment in augmented reality AR applications will total $670 million this year and annual amount is expected to exceed $2.5 billion by 2018. Hallmark, Audi, Disney, Heinz, and Leap are just a few of the big name companies that have already developed applications using augmented reality and the trend is likely to continue.
While The Clever Co. has finished and launched their app they are running a KickStarter project to fund marketing. They are looking to present their creations at the National Stationery Show 2014. They currently sell their customizable invitations on Etsy, a popular handmade e-commerce website because it is set up well for custom items like invitations.
The Clever Co. was created by Ethiopia and Tim Rabb. Ethiopia is web developer and Tim is a 3D animator. Their combined skills work perfectly for the endeavor of 3D cards. Ethiopia oversees the design and Tim creates the 3D models used for the AR. They are based in Atlanta, Georgia.
