5 Movies that Could be Watched in Virtual Reality

Virtual reality could change the way in which movies are seen. While Oculus Rift has already come up with virtual reality movies, they cannot be exactly considered as real movies because they hardly cover any century-old rules. Audiences can explore 360 degree environments in virtual reality movies instead of the cinematic frame set by the director. However, we can hope that the movies that already have been made, can be watched through this amazing technology in the future. Here is a list of 5 movies which you could enjoy if they could be viewed in a 360 degree environment.

  • Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park was re-released in 3D and it made quite an impact on the viewers. The conventional shooting techniques had made this movie awesome in 3D. It can be expected that the same techniques will be able to make this movie amazing to watch in virtual reality.

  • Gravity

Gravity was one movie with lots of interesting visuals which would look even better when viewed in a 360 degree environment. Framestore, the digital studio was responsible for creating all the visuals in the movie. The studio has also made its foray in VR by creating different experiences with Oculus Rift like Mariott “Teleporter” and HBO’s “Ascend the Wall”. So, this movie will definitely be breathtaking when viewed in VR.

  • The Blair Witch Project

Horror might be taken to a completely new level if it can be viewed in VR. However, one of the problems of this film is that the unstable camera use instigates nausea, which cannot be solved even by accurate head-tracking or future iterations of Rift.

  • Enter the Void

Enter the Void is a film by Gaspar Noé and it challenges the audience. This intense English language French film is a good contender for virtual reality films due to the way in which it has been filmed. The points of views are unique and the shots are in a first-person perspective or over-the-shoulder ones. These shots give the movie a different vibe which is expected to multiply when seen in VR.

  • Alien

Alien is the ultimate movie which will give a thrill when watched using a virtual reality headset. With plenty of creepy and dark airshafts, this film will get a new look when this technology is used. Viewers will be able to feel they are in an “immersed” world and are locked in a claustrophobic tunnel.

These are a few of the movies which can really be enjoyed in virtual reality. You can add your own list of movies that you would like to watch in virtual reality.
