This will come as a bad news for those who were waiting to install the Twitter app for Google Glass. The social networking site has stopped the development of its Glass app. According to a report by 9to5Google, the Twitter app development has stopped and it is no longer in the app market. This means that those who have started using Glass recently or were waiting to install it later, will not be able to use the app. Google Glass users who had installed the Twitter app and had deleted it , will also not be able to re-install the app.
No Twitter App in MyGlass
The Twitter app had made its entry into the Google Glass market in May, 2013. However, now you won’t even find the app in MyGlass, the management and app center of Google Glass. The center had the message which told the users who wanted to use the social networking site through Glass, just to go to google.com/myglass to turn it on. This message is no longer there. Now if the app users delete the app from Glass, they won’t be able to install it again.
Third-Party Developer Might Provide the Solution
The reason for removing the Twitter app from Glass is not yet known. The removal came as a surprise for many as it seemed that the two products worked well together and the app was used by many people. But now with this removal, people have no choice but to wait till any third-party app developer comes to the rescue. The users of the smart glass will be able to tweet directly from Glass and a solution will be provided if the third-party developers come into the scene.
Till then there is no other way out for the Glass users except wait for other apps which might help them use Twitter.
This might be an indication that big names that had earlier teamed up with Google Glass are losing interest even before it is available in the consumer market. One reason behind this might be the delay in its commercial release. This step by Twitter has certainly created a stir and it remains to be seen whether other major players will also lose interest in Google Glass in the future.
What do you think?
